The Calm

When the temblors tremble and shake
I'll be there until the very last quake.
My hand will nestle your sweet head,
And I'll keep you safe from the things you dread.

I'll do the things that are needed of me,
And do a little more, absolutely free.
It's the least I can even think to do
For dearest, sweetest, wonderfullest you.

I'll stay by your side when things are bad,
But also 'cause I'd miss you, I'll be there when you're glad.
I'll live every day like it would be my last
With you, which would make me aghast.

But I'm glad that each morning, when I awaken,
The other side of my bed is still taken,
And every day after work, when I come through that door,
I run into the woman I'll have forever more.
