On Listening

I'd like to hear what you have to say,
So excuse me for getting in the way.
I have a slight problem: being listening impaired,
But don't think for a moment that I haven't cared.

I do appreciate listening to your ideas,
And were they foods, would wrap them in tortillas.
So that I could then properly ingest,
Ruminate and then digest.

So, please, when I interrupt, don't feel sad;
Just see it as me accidentally being bad.
I'd rather you backpedaled to ensure I understood
That your idea is not how I first saw it, but good.

So, if those times I don't seem to be listening,
Please be so kind, and let your graces be glistening.
Kindly repeat what you have to say,
And then I can understand what you mean to convey.
