I remember that it was back oh-three
That I found the other half of me.
Our life became a pod, and we the pea
And in our commitment we were both made free.
I remember that it was back in oh-four
That I had spent another year with the girl I adore.
She had made me happier than anything before,
And the times we spent together were never a bore.
I remember that it was back in oh-five
That we decided to take the big dive,
And moved to Texas and tried to survive,
Every day, living life and being alive.
I remember that it was back in oh-six
That we decided to move out of the sticks
And escape the neighboring hicks,
And got ourselves into a pricey fix.
I remember that it was back in oh-seven
That things started closer to resemble heaven,
We tried new things, like bread with no leaven,
And financed a car until 2011.
I remember that it was back in oh-eight
That we decided that it was our fate
To move from a place without a gate
(Though I later made it up by taking her on a date).
I remember that it was back in oh-nine
That I wrote a little poem for a girl I think's fine,
I hope she knows what she means to mine,
'Cause I don't want to have to do it, but I'll build a shrine.
I know I probably made some mistakes (the dates might be wrong),
But I know with each day, our relationship goes strong.
I hope you don't think that this poem is cursory,
'Cause I wrote it to celebrate our anniversary.
