The Hard Worker's Toil

Working hard is the name of the game,
Though at times, the hard work causes pain.
I imagine that if you work really hardy,
Your work makes you feel less lardy.

And of course, there's the pride of the work.
Anyone who wouldn't be proud of you's a jerk.
You work really hard just to get things right,
And sometimes even work through the night.

The hours of the artist are never stable,
But I'll never make you do more than you're able.
And always, when you need a rest
I'll let you lay your head upon my chest.

I miss you when I sleep while you toil,
But I never allow myself to dig deep into dream's soil,
As I always like to take a break
And wait by the gate, no matter how long you take.
