Fluff was a bunny, Puff was a chick.
And together, they decided to do a trick,
They'd find all the eggs in the chicken coop,
And hide them all across the farm, what a dupe!
So they gathered up as many eggs as they could find,
And though they both had fun, it might have been unkind,
'Cause in the morning when the rooster crowed,
The hens would all wonder where their eggs goed.
The hens and the roosters and the sheep and the horses
All looked high and low for a sign of the eggs' courses.
But Fluff and Puff were masters of hiding,
For as hard as the other sought, there was no finding.
And all the while, they would look on and laugh,
Because the other animals were clearly off path.
And they never even felt a tremor of fear,
Because the other animals would never come near.
Puff was a chick, and Fluff was a bunny,
And they both thought that they had done something funny.
But pretty soon, they would start to feel bad,
'Cause those eggs each were without its mom and its dad.
So they gathered them up, and made sure they were all there,
And painted them with nice colors and put them on fine straw, like hair.
And then they loaded the eggs in a basket, and marched up to the stable,
And called to all the animals: the willing, ready, and the able.
They hoisted the basket high enough so that everone could see,
From the tallest Clydesdale to the lamb at his knee,
"I'd like to make an announcement," said Fluff to the crowd,
Some animals were hard of hearing, so he had to say it loud.
Puff interject and began to speak her soliloquy,
"Fluff and I decided to play a prank, and see,
Well, I guess it got a little out of hand. You must think us a beast, or
Else you'll all forgive us, after all, today is Easter."
For what the little chick had spoken was true,
And the crowd was pleased, as I hope, so are you,
To find that everything came out happy, and nobody was blue,
And Fluff and Puff could go off and do whatever it is bunnies and chicks do.
