Throughout life, there are things we must learn,
Like sharing, and being polite, and waiting your turn,
But then there are some things with which we are born,
Like aptitude, or dexterity, or skill playing horn.
Further, there are some aspects that combine the two,
Building a better birdhouse, or a better-flavored glue,
Or helping to correct people who say such words as "ain't."
Or even picking up that paint brush and laying on the paint.
I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the kind of guy
Who you could describe as having an artistic eye,
But I know what I like whenever I see 'em,
And wish that I had my very own museum.
Of course, I'm a little biased, 'cause that place would be filled
With the work of an artist that I think should be top billed,
And I'd run my gallery for the rest of my life,
Just so everybody else could see the hard work of my wife.
